Lion Prof. Risiman Amarasinghe-Charter President of Lions Club of Colombo Golden Jubilee is a internationally reputed scholar who had collected a Ph. D. for History from the Leiden University in The Netherlands earlier had been conferred a Ph. D. by the Colombo University in 1981 for his another first ever research work on the “Rise and Fall of the Sitawaka Kingdom”. He earned another Ph. D. Degree for Sinhala from the University of Sri Jayawardenepura for his Thesis on “Sociological Study of ‘Prashasthi' and ‘Hatan Kavya' (1412-1620)”.

Lion Prof. Risiman Amarasinghe is a distinguished academic and an authority on legal history, criminal law and law of nuisances. Being a devoted catholic and an erudite scholar he is rendering a great service to the catholic literature, Sinhala language, Sinhala literature and history of Sri Lanka.

He has been devoted his life to social service before he embraced Lionism he has had become a public figure with international reputation not only sociologist but also as a social worker. As you can VIEW HERE he has planned to implement many humanitarian projects as a Project Director with his clubs during 2008/ 09 Lionistic year.

There are 25 thesises and over 1500 research papers to his brilliant academic credit.
